ILTS-BBD

(Can't link you to download this, sorry.)

First of all, I have to say it's kinda ironic that one of the lines is 'Pushing all the buttons', just seemed kinda funny considering... At any rate, today marks ten years since our very own Rob Roberts lost his 'DDR virginity' to a machine in the arcade. Which would eventually lead to himself, DarkSakura and LOKI to start Orange Lounge Radio in the summer of 2002!

I was originally going to do the very first song I ever played, but I'm sure 'Have You Never Been Mellow' would've put you to sleep. So, I went with the 2nd song I ever learned to do after that!

One of the early 'Dancemania' tracks Konami had obtained the rights to, this song made its debut in the Japanese Dance Dance Revolution 2nd MIX. It was later included in both the original US release of DDR, as well as the home version when it was released on PSX.

Later on Konami would include the 'KOG G3' remix in their next game, Dance Dance Revolution 3rd MIX. Unfortunately no word on an 'X-Edit' re-cut appearing in a recent game... so if you wanna play this you'll have to locate a copy of the US PSX original (or Extreme 2, which has the KOG G3 version as an unlock.)

Nintendo Press Conference, Halo Cheaters, Gears of War delay, Auto 3DS Updates, Huge PC Games, Sonic 4, NBA Elite 11 and MORE on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice: Orange Lounge Radio

On this episode of Orange Lounge Radio, the lovely MarronMarvel fills in for an absent Rob Roberts. The hosts this week talk about the special Nintendo Press Conference held in lieu of the Tokyo Game Show. Are we still as excited about the 3DS as we were after E3? Or is that price point going to be a bit too much to bear? Of course, it is all about the games as well, and we talk not only about 3DS games this week, but PC games and a little bit of Sonic 4 as well. And of course, it is not OLR without the LIVE input from our chatters, e-mails, tweets and so much more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio

ILTS-DDR

(blah blah blah KONAMI WILL SUE, etc. can't link you to download this.)

Thinking back I probably should've went with this during DDR week on my other article series, but oh well. This song originally accompanied the BGM to the intro movie for Dance Dance Revolution 2nd MIX, but NAOKI went back and remixed it a little bit. And now it's the 'One More Extra Stage' song if you AAed 'Legend of MAX' on Extra stage in DDR EXTREME.

Later the song would get an additional ONI chart in DDR X, dubbed the 'X-Special' chart.

The song itself is pretty awesome, too... a fast, energetic track that gets you in the mood for an epic dance-off. The original background video helped set the tone, as it played random bits of the different intro movies throughout the series.

iloveSML-vs

I love that song and that video!

Today's track is Super Mario Land's theme song (Birabuto Kingdom)

Please note due to copyright issues I can not make this song available for you to download directly

While the Super Mario Land series was pretty short-lived, it only had 3 games in its series and even then the 3rd one turned into the Wario Land series, they were pretty good. It didn't ask the console versions of Mario anything and of course the music for those games were pretty damn awesome. I'm really fond of the main theme, it's a great and catchy tune, staple of the whole Mario games back in the day. But not only that, there are pretty good covers and arrangements of the songs that make it even better. My favorite I've heard and seen is the one that David Choi and Paul Dateh made. It really captures the escense of the song.
