Gaming weeks from the OLR community:

Deekman: Oh and Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard my new favorite game.

DanShadow: Oregon trail and henry hatsworth with a lil fable 2 and re5

MeowFrog: World of warcraft and COD World at war a bit... but not much... My gaming week sucked :(

darkknight: Finding a SNES in parents' basement + childhood memories = awesome gaming week.

kidmanproject: My gaming week consisted of a lot - and by a lot, I do mean a lot - of Resident Evil 5 and some Shenmue on the Dreamcast!

j00zt1n: Got Pokémon Platinum in the mail for review, so that's all I've been playing. Plus, my 360 has the now-infamous E74 error so yeah.

MarronMarvel: My gaming week was awesome. Played a lot of Rockband 2 & Age of Empires: Mythologies. Also wen t old school w/Sympony of the Night!

DarkTetsuya: a crapload of NFS: Underground 2 (way better than the original) and streaming SNEAK KING and GHOST Squad on justin.tv/darktetsuya :P

BlueSwim: Tomb Raider Underworld. Bad camera issues and horrible combat. Needed 6 more months in development. TR: Legend was SO much better.

harryaka: my gaming week was mainly consumed by Gta4 TLAD

Kroze: It's been Fallout 3, Burnout Paradise, and Garry's Mod again. Fallout 3 does last a long time ^_^

magicalnathan: Pretty good! I played Okami, Trauma Center 2, and a metric ton of Rock Band, as usual -Morii

kikineko: So much Peggle this week. Played a little Animal Crossing Wii too. Wow it's been a lame week...

RyanBelknap: Dragon Warrior 4 for the DS and Fallout 3 for the PC.

derHindemith: lots of peggle DS and Disgaea DS.

13xforever: I've finished the Mirror's Edge. This game rocks! I really appreciated playing it.

drp23: Beyond Good and Evil; The Witcher and Earthworm Jim1/2 oh ya and video games live

jacksonman: pretty good week, played some idracula on the iPhone and joanne d arc on psp. Pretty good game for a psp game

Deekman: Goemon 64 & SNES, Pilot Wings 64, Henry Hatsworth DS, Silent Hill PS1, Peggle XBLA and The Path PC

Each week we'll ask you what your gaming week is on twitter. Send a reply to @olr and let us know how your week went!

I love that song! - Let's fly to the Moon! PDF Print E-mail

It's so peaceful up there in the moon... well, not so peaceful...

Today's track is The Moon from Duck Tales

Please note due to copyright issues I can not make this song available for you to download directly.

Duck Tales was great platformer out of the NES era made by Capcom. Not only did they do a great job with the game and levels, the music was pretty awesome too, especially the Moon stage. It's so mystifying and calmed in the beginning of the song, something that resembles space itself. Then the real song starts giving us something more upbeat, living an adventure of a lifetime, IN SPACE!

This track is considered by many one of the best songs in a video game ever, and I think we can all really hear why.

Also brentalfloss has done a pretty funny lyrical rendition of the song.

If you want to post your opinion about today's track or you've got a song suggestion you would like to see featured from a game let us know in the comments and we'll see what we can do about featuring it in an up coming article!

Number 1. Beatmania (Series) PDF Print E-mail

Over the past week we've explored Ninjas, espionage, horror stories and vampires, but finally we present OLR's number 1 Konami game series - Beatmania!

Released in 1997 for the arcades in Japan, Beatmania is a music game where you play as a DJ mixing tracks and tapping the keyboard. There are five keys and a turntable to control with, and you have to hit (or scratch) the notes as the fall down the screen. As you tap it adds beats to the song, and playing extra notes serves no penatly, but allows the player to add their own twist on things.

Number 2. Castlevania (Series) PDF Print E-mail

On September 26 of 1986 Simon Belmont took up the 'Vampire Killer' whip and began the legendary struggle against the forces of the undead and Dracula himself. Castlevania continues to prove that in this world of high budget 3rd person action games and first person shooters, there's still room for 2d, side scrolling adventures.
